AMMAN — The euro recorded its lowest level
against the Jordanian dinar since 2002 on Sunday at JD0.72, said head of
Alawneh Exchange Company Ayman Alawneh, according to Khaberni.

He said that local demand for the euro had increased
by about 30 percent over the past five days, due to traders covering old
commitments paid in euros at a lower price.
Alawneh underlined that the local market has ample
supply of euros brought in by tourists and visitors as well as through local
banks and international shipping.
He added that countries trading in euro are benefiting
from the sharp decline of the currency. Importers of European goods are also
benefiting from the current drop as well as tourists travelling to the
Eurozone from Jordan.
