AMMAN — The
foreign direct investment (FDI) in Jordan amounted to $622 million in 2021,
constituting 1.2 percent of the Arab region’s total FDI, according to the
Jordan News Agency, Petra.

According to data
issued Tuesday by the
Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation,
Dhaman, the Arab region’s FDI in 2021 went up by 42 percent to $53 billion,
comprising 6.3 percent of developing countries’ FDI and 3.3 percent of the
global FDI, which totaled $1.58 trillion.
The top five Arab
countries which commanded 96 percent of the region’s FDI are topped by the UAE
with $20.7 billion, or 39.1 percent; followed by Saudi Arabia with $19.3
billion, or 36.5 percent. Egypt came third with $5.1 billion, or 9.7 percent;
Oman with $3.6 billion, or 6.8 percent; and Morocco with $2.2 billion, or 4.1
percent.
