Commenting on the launch of the programme,
Dr Mohanned Al Arabiat, President and Acting CEO of
GFP, said that ‘Thiqa’
programme draws its name from the
aspirations of GFP to build bridges of
dialogue, interaction, and trust between officials, decision-makers,
governmental entities, and youth representing their communities.
He added that enhancing constructive
interactions between municipal officials and youth, especially those with fewer
opportunities for engagement, and creating spaces for effective communication
between the two parties will contribute to building an actionable youth plan
responsive to community priorities in Al-Salt and Al-Karak.
Commenting on the inauguration of the training sessions Muhammad Al Hyari, President of Al-Salt Municipality,
said: "This programme resonates with our commitment to nurturing the
potential of our youth. It creates avenues and builds capacities for
constructive dialogue and meaningful collaboration between municipal officials
and young leaders. We are eager to see the positive outcomes that will
undoubtedly emerge from this partnership."
Meanwhile, Baker Ma’ayta, Director of
Public Relations Directorate, Al-Karak Municipality said: "As a municipality
dedicated to the development of our community, addressing their aspirations,
concerns, and challenges, this collaboration with
GFP reflects our vision of
promoting inclusive decision-making. By fostering dialogue between municipal
officials and young leaders, 'Thiqa' opens doors for constructive and
sustainable interactions."
As part of the programme,
Generations for Peace will deliver
a series of specialised training sessions, workshops, and follow-up sessions on
transformative dialogue, and policy analysis. This collaborative effort seeks
to identify youth priorities, design an actionable youth-led plan with
implementable recommendations, establish constructive communication channels,
and identify partners for executing joint action plans.
'Thiqa' places a significant emphasis on
enhancing the digital strategic communication skills of local municipal
officials and aims to equip officials with the tools to engage effectively with
young people, especially through social media. This strategic approach aims to
support trust-building, increase transparency, and promote accountability.
