The price of one gram of 24, 18, and 14-carat gold for purchase from jewelry shops was 70.50, 54.50, and 41.40 dinars, respectively.
According to the President of the General Syndicate of Owners of Jewelry Shops and Goldsmiths, Rabhi Allan, the price of a 7-gram "Rashadi" gold coin was 430 dinars, and the 8-gram "English" gold coin was 490 dinars.
In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Allan mentioned that demand and supply for gold in the local market were weak, with only a slight demand for gold bars and coins for savings and investment purposes.
He also noted that gold prices on the global market reached a new record on Friday, hitting $3023 per ounce, after having peaked at $3057 for the week, driven by investor interest in gold as a safe haven.
Allan added that gold prices globally have increased by 15% since the beginning of the current year, marking the largest three-month rise ever.
