Gov’t earmarks JD30m for aid funds amid global fuel price hikes

AMMAN — The government set aside JD30 million for the National Aid Fund (NAF) and a fund for impoverished university students to mitigate the effects of global fuel price rises, according to Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Al-Shboul, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.اضافة اعلان

The NAF aids around 220,000 households, while the poor student’s fund provides financial aid to 74,000 university students.

In the next six months, the financial assistance will be added to the beneficiaries’ monthly payments. The decision also includes financial assistance for medium and large-sized public transport vehicles, added Shboul, who is also the government spokesperson.

Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh directed Finance Minister Mohamed Al-Ississ to make the appropriate reclassifications in the 2022 budget to cover the costs.
