Gov’t to borrow JD2.3b in 2023 — ministry

AMMAN — Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance Abdul Hakim Al-Shibli has said that financing the budget will require JD2.3 billion, covering the budget deficit of JD1.9 billion and financing the Water Authority’s deficit of JD350 million, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Shibli also said that the volume of domestic debt in bonds amounts to JD6.7 billion, of which JD4.4 billion will be paid next year. He also said the government intends to borrow JD2.3 billion, of which JD900 million from abroad.

Debts owed to the Social Security Fund amount to JD7.7 billion, he said, adding that they are being paid according to schedule, and that their exclusion from the total public debt is in line with practices by other countries.  He also stressed the government’s commitment to pay all arrears.
