In a statement on Monday, Jaghbir attributed the
upswing — amounting to JD1.39 billion — to recent efforts to boost the
industrial sector.
Mining industries were the top contributor to the
increase, rising by JD859 million above last year’s figures, to reach JD1.453
billion in the first nine months of this year; chemical industries followed,
amounting to JD1.460 billion for the same period, Jaghbir said.
Industrial exports to the
US totaled JD1.313 billion
followed by those to India, at JD1.046 billion, and Saudi Arabia JD626 million,
he added.
Higher production and global demand have also played a part
in the growth of potash, phosphate, fertilizer, and garment exports, he said.
