AMMAN — The Industrial Producers'
Prices index rose by 16.61 percent between January and August this year, reaching
141.94 points, against 121.73 in the corresponding period of 2021, according to
the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The
Department of Statistics said in a report on Wednesday that the increase was
mainly driven by a 17.31 percent hike in the prices of transformative
industries, and 29.03 percent in extractive industries. Electricity prices inched
down by 6.78 percent, it said.
In August 2022, the index climbed by 14.81 percent to 145.43 points, compared with
126.67 in the same month of 2021.
The report showed that transformative and extractive industries were the main
contributors to the monthly increase, with 13.93 and 50.51 percent
respectively. Electricity prices, however, decreased by 12.46 percent.
