AMMAN — Head of the
Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi
Al-Jaghbir said that the industrial sector led the growth of the national
economy in 2021, with its contribution of about 28 percent of the total
GDP growth, according to Ad-Dustour.

Jaghbir said on Sunday that the industrial sector has the
ability to adapt and grow as one of the most important economic sectors. He added, "Over the last nine months of
2021, the sector achieved 2.9 percent growth, despite the continuing
consequences of the
COVID 19 pandemic on various activities which confirms its
ability to deal with challenges."
He pointed out that the industrial sector was a pioneer in
economic growth, achieving a contribution of 0.60 percent, adding that the
industrial sector provides about $9 billion annually as revenue from exports,
which make up about 92 percent of the country’s total exports.
He highlighted to a study prepared by the
Central Bank which
showed that every dinar spent in the industrial sector contributes directly and
indirectly to the national economy by JD 2,166, meaning that the contribution
of the industrial sector to the national economy amounts to about 44 percent
due to its interdependence with other economic sectors.
Jaghbir stressed the need to support the industrial sector
as a key pillar in meeting the needs of the local market and support to
development and sustainability, as well as its capability to generate work
opportunities and attract investments.
