AMMAN — The Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, inched up 3.63 percent in the first seven months of 2022 to 105.77 points against 102.06 points in the same period of last year, according to official figures, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

In a monthly report released Thursday, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said inflation edged up by 5.34 percent in July, reaching 107.92 points compared with 102.45 points in July 2021.
According to the report, the main commodity groups that contributed to the increase in the seven months were fuel and lighting by 19.42 percentage points, transport by 5.64 percentage points, vegetables, dried and canned legumes by 12.09 percentage points, rents by 1.18 percentage points, and entertainment by 7.27 percentage points.
