AMMAN — The
Consumer Price Index (CPI), a measure of inflation, edged up 4.01 percent in the first two months of
2023 to reach 107.97 points, compared with 103.81 for the same period of 2022,
the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

In a monthly bulletin released on Monday,
the
Department of Statistics (DoS) noted that the fuel and lighting subgroup
was responsible for 31.82 percent of the index increase, while furniture,
carpets and mattresses, culture and entertainment, restaurants and hotels, and
oils and fats made contributions of 10.41 percent, 10.39 percent, 9.48 percent,
and 9.46 percent, respectively.
February statisticsFor the month of February,
inflation increased by 4.25 to 108.32 points, compared to 103.90 points recorded in the
same month of 2022, the figures showed.
Fuels and lighting contributed 31.82
percent to the monthly increase, followed by furniture, carpets, and mattresses
at 10.39 percent, culture and entertainment at 10.37 percent, oils and fats at
9.52 percent, and restaurants and hotels at 9.50 percent.
