AMMAN — Exports from the Irbid Industrial
Park in the first four months of the year reached $323 million, a 21.8 percent
increase over last year’s $265 million, the
Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI) said in a press statement Tuesday, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

ICI head Hani Abu Hassan the
Al-Hassan Industrial Estate exported $297 million worth of goods, while Cyber City’s exports stood
at $21 million.
The textile and leather sector maintained a leading
position, with $292 million worth of exports, followed by the medical
industries, at $9 million, and the foodstuff sector, at $8.7 million, he said.
The engineering, chemical, mining, construction, plastic, and packaging sectors
made up the rest of the exports.
The
US market was the biggest importer, accounting
for $288 million worth of exports from Irbid, while Arab countries imported $24
million worth of goods. Other importers were Canada, Europe, and Southeastern
Asia, he added.
