Irbid Municipality’s Higher Council for
Investment approved five major projects in different sectors, which include a
train, mall, and a central market for fruit and vegetables, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.

During a council’s meeting on Tuesday, Irbid Governor Nabel
Al-Kofahi said that the idea of forming the higher investment council is to
develop a road map towards achieving the investment path of the municipality
according to a systematic plan.
He commended the efforts of council members over the past
period to come up with recommendations that meet the aspirations of the municipality
of Irbid to achieve development and increase its revenues.
The council’s head said the five approved projects include establishing
a central market for fruit and vegetables on an area of 360 dunums. The second
project is to build a hotel and a business center to attract large companies, a
conference center, restaurants and cafes on 27 dunums.
The third project, will be setting up rail track to link
Irbid with the University of Science and Technology and King Abdullah II
Hospital. He said the project will facilitate mobility, until a radical
solution to traffic jams on the Al-Thaqafa circle.
The fourth project pertains to energy and the installation
of solar cells, or a solar farm, which is considered a priority for the municipality,
given its draining energy cost of JD4.5 million annually
The fifth project will be the establishment of a parking lot,
and a travel complex near the municipal building.
