“Binding together
when times get tough is the epitome of being
Jordanian,” the statement said.
It said the idea
started after the success of “Toys of Hope”, another initiative led by Play
99.5 in 2010, when listeners were encouraged to donate their old toys to
underprivileged children.
That campaign
caught the eye of
Her Majesty Queen Rania, who voiced her support for the
campaign by donating toys, and by also calling into Play 99.5’s morning show
live on air.
Fast forward to
this year, Jordanians are expected to face one of the coldest winters witnessed
in a long time which sparked the idea to launch “Jackets of Hope”.
Branded drop bins
were placed in different Jordan Kuwait Bank branches in City Mall, Taj
Lifestyle and Abdali Mall, and at Cozmo’s Seventh Circle.
Washy Wash
volunteered to clean and categorize all the received jacket in a true act of
coming together for good.
Play 99.5 also
held different school activations encouraging youth to exercise empathy and
donate their old jackets. Presenters Dana Darwish and Saad Shamout visited Al
Mashrek International School, where they interviewed the students who donated
jackets, and collected inspiring messages from the youth to the people who will
be receiving the jackets.
Another
presenter, Bader Al-Khatib visited the Islamic scientific college, where they
met with the students who participated in the campaign to encourage more people
to follow suit.
The campaign runs
until the middle of December, and every jacket shared is a heart warmed this
winter season.

how you can also participate and bring warmth and joy to a person in need this
winter, you can visit Play 99.5’s social media @play995 or on their website
