Ali Al-Khasawneh, who is in charge of gas cylinders at
JoPetrol said on Tuesday, that the first step would be to inspect the gas
cylinder as soon as it is received from the market, where inspectors discard of
damaged ones or refer them to maintenance.
On average, some 2,000 cylinders are referred to maintenance on daily
basis, where they are subjected to fresh paint and replacement of valves,
according to Khasawneh.
The head of the owners of hydrocarbon stations, Nahar
Al-Saeedat, said that the installation of washing units aims to ensure that gas
cylinders reach consumers in a proper condition, noting that they are
sterilized and cleaned even if they “seem to be in bad shape” and safety of use
is constantly monitored. “No gas cylinder will leave JoPetrol unless it is 100
percent safe and secure,” he said.
JoPetrol is in the process of preparing the project tenders
and the cleaning process is expected to begin in the summer.
