The summit, which is held virtually and organized by
the
World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), will last
for three days, with the attendance of 20 official speakers comprising major
publishers, journalists, and media professionals in the media and press sector.
Alayyan said that “the development of digital
content in North America and Europe precedes the Middle East, where publishers
have transformed and continue to do so. They have figured out their digital
transformation strategy and are finding new ways with the help of Big Data and
AI to help them innovate, identify new patterns in consumption, improve
content, cut costs, and find new streams of revenues.”
In his speech, he called for “the need to work to
speed up this process”, noting the importance of the role played by the Middle
Eastern Media Leaders Summit in “accelerating the transformation process and
finding smart ways to do so through well-thought-out plans.”
Alayyan stressed the need to accept this change, as
the Middle East is a little behind the world in adopting strategies for
developing and promoting digital content, noting the need to work to speed up
this process.
This digital summit focuses on the future of news
and how artificial intelligence can change the future of journalism.
