This year’s theme is “Imagine Rotary”, “where members
act to make their dreams become reality and make the most of their club
experiences”, the statement said, citing Rotary International President Jennifer
Jones.
“Imagine, a world that deserves our best, where we
get up each day knowing that we can make a difference,” said Jones on launching her presidential theme for 2022–2023, with
a focus on empowering girls.
At
the hand-over ceremony marking the new year, Deputy
District Governor for Jordan Farid Musharbash briefed participants on the
clubs’ achievements over the past year. These included blood donations, the
distribution of food parcels during Ramadan, participation in the World Polio
Day, and fundraising activities — the proceeds of which go to support local
communities.
“Despite COVID-related restrictions, the clubs managed to continue
to serve their communities through several initiatives and campaigns,"
Musharbash said.
The first Rotary Club in Jordan was established in 1956. Today
it counts some 250 members across 12 clubs, according to the statement.
