AMMAN —
Khalil Hajj Tawfiq, president of the
Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC),
underscored the significant potential for economic integration between Jordan
and Saudi Arabia. His comments followed the participation of a JCC delegation
in the 18th session of the
Saudi-Jordanian Joint Committee.

Tawfiq
expressed the eagerness of the Jordanian private sector to achieve economic
integration between the two nations, ultimately aiming to establish a unified
economic identity. He emphasized the potential for aligning the
economic visions of both countries, working toward mutual interests. This includes the
establishment of industrial and commercial partnerships, expanded cooperative
ventures, and mutually beneficial investments that would contribute to
comprehensive development, Hala News reported.
Evolving
trends in bilateral trade
Highlighting
the evolving trends in bilateral trade supported by official statistical data,
Tawfiq mentioned that
Jordan's exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to JD840
million in the previous year, compared to imports totaling approximately
JD3.932 billion.
Highlighting
the historical ties and fraternal relations between the leadership of Jordan
and Saudi Arabia, Tawfiq asserted that these connections serve as pivotal
pillars for a new era of cooperation. The focus particularly lies within trade,
industry, and
investment sectors. He further affirmed that the Jordanian-Saudi
relationship exemplifies Arab cooperation across various sectors and offers a
promising prospect to enhance collaborative Arab economic efforts.
