The meeting took place during the Prime Minister's
recent visit to Iraq. One of the main topics discussed was the simplification of the
process for dealing with certificates of origin issued by JCI and IFI. They
proposed a direct and faster trade route by eliminating the need for
authentication by embassies or foreign affairs ministries, the Jordan News
Agency, Petra reported.
This would allow for locally testing exported materials
without the involvement of a third party. The same approach would apply to
goods imported by both countries. Given that more than 65 percent of the
projects in their
Economic Estate are related to industries, close cooperation
at all stages was emphasized by both sides.
Jaghbir stated that these talks marked an important step
towards achieving Jordanian-Iraqi industrial integration, opening the way for
stronger joint trade and economic opportunities. The ability to establish a
joint industry chamber and conduct collaborative studies for industrial
development was deemed essential to enhance cooperation between the two
nations.
Meanwhile, Okab expressed that the meeting with the
Jordanian industrial delegation was a crucial turning point in strengthening
joint industrial cooperation. He stressed the partnership with Jordan,
particularly in streamlining commercial procedures, primarily focusing on the
direct authentication of certificates of origin issued by both sides.
Furthermore, Okab emphasized the need for bolstering economic ties by providing
support to their respective industrial sectors.
