AMMAN — The Cabinet has announced
the formation of a team to negotiate with the World Bank regarding the draft of
the additional financing agreement for the Inclusive, Transparent, and Climate
Responsive Investments Program.

The negotiations are aimed at
obtaining an additional $600 million in funding for the program, which aims to
enhance a comprehensive and transparent regulatory environment for business in
both the public and private sectors, support the business environment, and
enhance the capacity to compete for attracting new investments, according to a
local media outlet.
Negotiating Team CompositionThe negotiating team will be
composed of high-ranking officials from various ministries. It will be led by
the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and will include the
secretaries-general of the Prime Ministry, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of
Investment, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Ministry of Environment,
and the Ministry of Tourism.
The team will also include the
directors-general from the Procurement, Tenders, and Statistics departments, as
well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates
and the Government Investment Management Unit.
The program aims to stimulate public and private investment in Jordan, create more job opportunities, leverage the country's economic potential, especially green growth opportunities, and enhance mechanisms of government accountability for implementation.
The Inclusive, Transparent and
Climate Responsive Investments Program was initially funded by the World Bank
in mid-2021.
