industries, medical supplies, chemicals, foodstuffs, and agricultural and
livestock industries can potentially access the Algerian market.
He called for the
reactivation of a 1997 trade cooperation agreement between the two countries as
well as a deal to promote and expand trade exchange between them.
He emphasized the
need for opening a direct maritime transport route between Jordan, Algeria, and
other Arab nations in North Africa.
He said the Amman
and Jordan chambers of industry regularly hold bilateral meetings with Algerian
businesspeople to showcase Jordanian products.
He said that top
exports from the Kingdom to Algeria are namely pharmaceuticals, packaging
materials, and pesticides, while imports from the
North African nation include
sugarcane, petroleum gases and hydrocarbons, tires, ceramic supplies, and
chocolate.
The total value of
trade exchange between the two countries stood at JD141 million last year.
