AMMAN — Jordan ranked 7th in the
Arab region and 49th internationally on the 2021 Global Food Security Index, with a score
of 64.6, according to Khaberni. The index measures key food security issues in
113 countries.

The global food security index takes into account
several resilience criteria including the cost, availability, and quality of
food, as well as the the presence of natural resources in the country.
It includes 58 indicators to measure food security
drivers in both developing and developed countries.
Qatar was the highest-ranking Arab country with a
score of 73.6 and Ireland was the highest-ranking country globally with a score
of 84.
