Meanwhile, Jordan's imports from the US amounted to 1.331 billion dinars in 2024, compared to 1.161 billion dinars in 2023, reflecting an increase of 14.6%.

As a result, the total trade exchange between the two countries in 2024 reached 3.539 billion dinars, compared to 3.119 billion dinars in 2023.

According to the statistical data, Jordanian exports to the United States accounted for 25.7% of the total value of Jordan's exports in the past year.

In this context, Samer Joudeh, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, told Petra that this increase reflects the success of Jordanian products in penetrating US markets, benefiting from the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, which fully came into effect in 2010 and contributed to increasing trade volume by over 800%.

Joudeh added that export and support for national industries are key priorities in the Kingdom’s economic modernization vision. As such, there is significant responsibility on sector leaders to establish policies and coordinate efforts to achieve these goals.

He emphasized that building on this momentum requires increasing the added value of Jordanian products, improving quality standards, expanding the range of exported goods and services, and enhancing joint investments between the two countries.

Joudeh stressed the importance of institutional cooperation in training, marketing, and developing supply chains to ensure the sustainability of this growth and increase the competitiveness of Jordanian exports in the US market. He also highlighted the importance of focusing on exporting high-value-added technical services that rely on skilled human resources with high competitiveness.

He pointed out that many Jordanian sectors are experiencing significant growth in their exports to the US market, benefiting from the Free Trade Agreement. He mentioned that the apparel and garment sector continues to lead the list of exports, thanks to the ease of applying the rules of origin stipulated in the agreement, which gives Jordanian products a strong competitive advantage. The fertilizer and chemical products sector is also seeing sustainable growth, supported by abundant natural resources like phosphate and potash.

He also mentioned that the pharmaceutical sector is experiencing increasing demand in foreign markets due to its high quality and adherence to the latest international standards. Additionally, the jewelry sector has been able to attract American consumers due to its innovative designs and high craftsmanship.

Regarding the information technology sector, he explained that it is establishing its presence in the US market, benefiting from the flourishing entrepreneurial environment in Jordan. As for food and animal products, they have successfully penetrated specialized markets within the US by adhering to international manufacturing, packaging, and labeling standards.

Joudeh emphasized that enhancing these sectors requires the concerted efforts of both the public and private sectors, highlighting the pivotal role of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan in showcasing Jordanian competitiveness and capitalizing on the deepened economic relations between the two countries.

He also stressed the importance of promoting Jordanian products and services while attracting foreign investments, opening wide opportunities for Jordanian companies in the largest global markets, boosting economic growth and innovation, and solidifying Jordan's position as a leading trade and industrial hub in the region.

Regarding the role of the American Chamber of Commerce in supporting Jordanian exports to the US market, Joudeh clarified that the Chamber plays a key role in supporting Jordanian exports to the United States by organizing exhibitions, events, and workshops that allow US importers to learn about promising Jordanian products. It also provides technical support and consultations to exporters to help them comply with US laws and regulations, facilitating the entry of Jordanian products into US markets efficiently.

Joudeh stated that the Chamber contributes to connecting Jordanian companies with their American counterparts to enhance long-term trade partnerships and open new avenues for cooperation. It also offers specialized advisory services to help exporters understand US consumer needs and market requirements, in addition to representing Jordanian interests with relevant US authorities to improve the business environment and attract more investment opportunities.
