AMMAN — The Department of Statistics in Jordan has announced
that the total value of the Kingdom's exports increased by 20.2 percent during
the first two months of 2023, reaching JD1.463 billion, compared to JD1.216
billion during the same period last year.

According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, this growth is
in line with the monthly report on Jordan's foreign trade, released by
department on Wednesday.
The department’s report revealed that the value of national
exports grew during the January–February period of 2023 by 24.7 percent,
reaching JD1.371 billion compared to the same period last year, which was
estimated at JD1.100 billion.
Re-exports drop
While the value of national exports grew, the value of
re-exports amounted to JD91.8 million in the first two months of 2023, marking
a decrease of 21.3 percent compared to the same period last year, which
amounted to JD116 million.
Meanwhile, the value of re-exports during February 2023 was
JD45.1 million, a 28.6 percent drop compared to the same month in 2022.
On the other hand, the value of imports amounted to about
JD3.010 billion during the first two months of 2023, showing an increase of 9.0
percent compared to the same period last year, which was estimated at JD2.760
billion.
However, despite the growth in exports and imports, the
trade balance deficit increased by 0.2 percent during the first two months of
2023, reaching JD1.546 billion, compared to JD1.543 billion in the same period
last year.
February statistics
In February 2023, the value of total exports amounted to
JD873.5 million, marking an increase of 36.5 percent compared to the same month
last year.
At the same time, the value of national exports in February
2023 was JD828.4 million, representing a 43.6 percent increase compared to the
same month in 2022.
In contrast the value of imports in February 2023 amounted
to about JD1.369 billion, showing a 3.1 percent decrease compared to the same
month in 2022.
The report also showed that Jordan's trade balance deficit
in February 2023 amounted to JD495.2 million, reflecting a 35.9 percent drop
compared to the same month last year.
