AMMAN — At a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, August 30, Prime
Minister
Bisher Al-Khasawneh announced his objective to negotiate a new IMF-funded
national program for economic reform, which aims to strengthen the national
economy, meet financing requirements, and promote growth, Jordan News Agency,
Petra reported.

During the meeting the
Minister of Finance, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and the
Central Bank of Jordan Governor
briefed the Cabinet on their recent visit to the USA, during which they met
with the US Secretary of Treasury, chairman of the US Federal Reserve,
officials in American Congress, and managing director of the
International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Previous IMF programs
Khasawneh emphasized Jordan's achievements through the IMF's
Sixth Review Under the Extended Arrangement Under the Extended Fund Facility,
which helped improve the Kingdom's financial and monetary stability and prevent
inflationary pressures that other
oil-importing economies have faced and
progressed Jordan in its ratings with international credit rating agencies.
He advised that
Jordan should maintain cooperation with the IMF under the program developed by the relevant ministries and institutions,
which will end in March 2024.
