Jordan witnessed 3.7% uptick in energy use in 2021

AMMAN — According to data from the Energy and Minerals Resources Regulatory Commission, the Kingdom used 17,380.17GWh of energy last year, a growth of 3.7 percent compared to the 16,759.5GWh consumed in 2020, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

The industrial sector consumed 3,132.3GWh in 2021, or 18.2 percent of the total energy, while the water and agriculture sectors consumed a combined 2,693.3GWh (15.5 percent), and the commercial and hotels sectors consumed 1,875.6GWh (10.79 percent).

According to the commission, 19,224GWh was generated from power plants in 2021, and 394.8GWh was imported from Egypt.

The data indicates that the per-capita electricity consumed last year was 1,572KWh, and the electricity loss decreased by 1.18 percent.
