Aqaba Governor Khaled Hajjaj told Petra on Tuesday that an operations room has
been opened to maintain the supply chain for foodstuffs, medicines, and all
basic goods from the ports of Aqaba to all its destinations in the Kingdom.
"Additional yards were provided to store goods in ports and customs
centers, and additional lanes were opened for customs clearance to facilitate
the process as quickly as possible," he added.
Abdel Majid Qaralah, director-general of the Aqaba Company for Ports Operation
and Management (ACPOM), said that navigation at the port operates normally in
terms of receiving ships, completing customs procedures, and facilitating the
movement of goods to various governorates of the Kingdom.
"About 900 trucks, during the past 24 hours, were loaded with various
types of goods, especially basic foodstuffs and fodder, and dozens of
containers were inspected in customs yard 4," he added, noting that the
port of Aqaba will receive, during the next few days, a number of commercial
ships coming from several countries, including ships of wheat, sugar, coal,
stone, and fodder.
