The Greater Amman Municipality has named the alley leading to the Arab Bank in downtown Amman after the late Haj Mahmoud Habibah. Previously known popularly as "Dakhlet Habibah" due to the presence of "Habibah Kunafa" there since 1951, it is now officially called "Mahmoud Habibah Street."اضافة اعلان

The late Haj Mahmoud Habibah, also known as "Abu Hani," founded the first branch of Jordan’s most famous dessert brand, "Habibah Sweets," in this very alley, which has now become an official street named in his honor.

Haj Hani Mahmoud Habibah, the eldest son of the late Haj Mahmoud Habibah, has shared the story of his father’s remarkable journey—a tale of perseverance and success that turned a small dream into a great achievement, now carried on by his children.

After Haj Mahmoud Habibah, his eldest son, Haj Hani Mahmoud Habibah, took the reins, preserving his father's legacy and expanding the business across Amman with careful planning. He maintained the original downtown branch while establishing another branch nearby on King Hussein Street.

Later, he expanded into western Amman, building one of the largest, most modern, and upscale confectionery complexes in the city on Medina Street, adjacent to the Waha Circle branch.

Currently, Haj Hani Mahmoud Habibah, supported by his sons, is working on constructing one of the largest confectionery factories in the Middle East—if not the largest.

Regionally, Haj Hani Mahmoud Habibah has expanded into the Gulf, particularly in Saudi Arabia, where the people have a deep appreciation for "Habibah Kunafa." The brand now has two branches in Riyadh, one in Al-Sulaimaniah and the other in Qurtubah.

The story of the late Haj Mahmoud Habibah and his son, Haj Hani Mahmoud Habibah, is not just about a dessert shop. It is a tale of perseverance and success, a legacy deeply tied to Amman’s history. In recognition of this remarkable journey, Haj Hani Mahmoud Habibah was honored by His Majesty King Abdullah II as one of the distinguished figures of the capital.

Now, the naming of "Mahmoud Habibah Street" is a well-deserved tribute from Amman to one of its most iconic, loyal, and distinguished figures.
