AMMAN — Head of
Jordan Free Zones Investors Commission Muhammad Al-Bustanji stressed that the prices of hybrid
cars will rise considerably due to the 10-15 percent increase in their prices
globally, according to Al-Rai newspaper.

Bustanji said that the increase in prices is also
due to the increase in the annual customs tax by 10 percent, which makes the
prices of these cars higher by JD1,500 to JD2,000, making it almost impossible
for citizens to buy such cars.
Bustanji said that the increase for
all types of cars, running on petrol, diesel, electricity, or hybrid, happened
globally by no less than 20 percent.
An informed source at the
Ministry of Finance said that the ministry will not postpone the decision to increase by
10 percent the tax on hybrid cars, starting with next year.
