AMMAN — According to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) data, the electrical load registered in the Kingdom Saturday morning amounted to 3,020 megawatts (MW), while in the evening the figure stood at 3,580MW, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

The maximum electrical load recorded this summer was 3,400MW, while the maximum electrical load recorded in the Kingdom in January was 4,010MW.

NEPCO said it has increased its readiness to deal with the heat wave that prevails in the Kingdom, stressing that the country enjoys a highly reliable electrical system, on par with those in developed countries, and that NEPCO has specific operational plans that help it boost its readiness to absorb the expected demand for electric power during a heat wave.

The company said that it had completed the periodic and preventive maintenance programs supported by sufficient generating capacity to absorb the loads resulting from the high temperatures.

According to the company’s data, the generating capacity of conventional energy decreased by 0.6 percent, from 4,000MW in 2020, to 3,977MW in 2021, while the renewable energy capacity increased from 1,424MW in 2020, to 1579MW in 2021, a 10.9 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stressed the importance of rationing energy consumption and avoiding wasting it, especially during periods of high electrical loads in the summer.

According to the guide published on the ministry’s website, “the optimal use of electricity enables us to obtain high efficiency with the lowest possible energy, and to use devices and equipment with the highest reliability”.

It also urges closing windows and doors to prevent hot air from entering the interior, and ensuring that holes are sealed to prevent hot air from entering by placing gaskets around door frames, windows, exhaust fans, and any other places where wires and tubes pass through walls, as well as for closing blinds to prevent sunlight from entering while the cooling devices are working.

The guide mentions cleaning air conditioner filters, to avoid higher energy consumption and bills, and making sure that air conditioners are turned off when one leaves the room or office.

The guide suggests setting the air conditioner thermostat at 24O, which is makes the environment most comfortable.
