AMMAN — The chief executive officer of the
Amman stock exchange, Mazen Al-Wathaifi, stated that 144 companies listed on
the
Amman Stock Exchange have provided the necessary data to the stock exchange
within the specified deadline, June 30, 2023, through the electronic disclosure
system. Below are some statistics revealed by the data provided.

Profits after tax attributable to the
shareholders of the mentioned companies for H1 2023 decreased to JD1.070
billion compared to JD1.270 billion for H1 2022, with a decrease of 15.7
percent.
Similarly, profits before tax for these
companies reached JD1.516 billion for the first half of 2023 compared to
JD1.714 billion for the first half of 2022, reflecting a decrease of 11.5
percent.
From a sectoral perspective, profits after
tax attributable to shareholders in the financial sector of the companies that
submitted their data increased by 30.3 percent, while profits in the services
sector decreased by 37.1 percent, and profits in the industrial sector
decreased by 40.4 percent.
The number of companies that
achieved net profits for the first half of 2023 among the companies that submitted their
data was 98 companies, compared to 93 companies that achieved profits for the
first half of 2022 among those companies. Additionally, the number of companies
that incurred losses among the companies that submitted their data was 46
companies for the first half of 2023, compared to 51 companies for the same
period in 2022.
Exceptions
He also pointed out in a disclosure made by
the
stock exchange on its website today, Tuesday, that insurance companies have
been granted a deadline until the end of August to provide the stock exchange
with their
semi-annual financial data for the year 2023, noting that only one
insurance company has submitted the required financial data to the stock
exchange.
In light of this exception, the compliance
rate of the remaining listed companies in providing the data on time reached 96
percent.
