In a statement to
Al-Rai, the source indicated that the decision of imposing a tax was agreed
upon with the
Jordanian Free Zones Investors Commission and has happened in
stages in order to mitigate a sudden rise.
The source believed
that this increase would not have a significant impact on vehicle sales and
prices, pointing out that the import of vehicles is still at the same expected
rates.
The commission presented
a study showing how the addition of a 10 percent tax on
Hybrid vehicles would
affect their prices and how the price is expected to increase significantly
compared to other cars, primarily due to vehicle price hikes globally from the
manufacturer and due to limited production.
