AMMAN — Nokia has announced that it
will partner with Zain Jordan in a multi-year deal to supply
5G Wireless Access Network (RAN) equipment across Jordan. Through the deal,
Zain will be able to
support the country's digital transformation by offering high-level 5G services
with enhanced connectivity and capacity to customers, Amman Net reported.

Much of the deployment of Zain’s new 5G
services is expected to be completed during the current calendar year.
Digital transformation“We are delighted to be partnering with
Zain Jordan on this project to modernize their complete Radio Access Network
and introduce 5G technology, and by doing so support the
Jordanian Government’s digital transformation objectives,” said Tommi Uitto, president of mobile
networks at Nokia.

deployment of 5G is expected to
stimulate the incubation and growth of new technologies and industries.”
The technologyUnder the deal, which includes more than
3,000 locations across the country, Nokia will offer the latest generation of
its AirScale baseband, massive MIMO radios, and remote radio head products. All
of these are powered by its energy-efficient
ReefShark System on Chip (SoC)
technology and will jointly provide superior coverage and capacity, according
to Nokia.

In parallel with the deployment of 5G,
Nokia will also upgrade existing Zain 4G infrastructure.
Leading telecommunications providerAccording to 2022 estimates, Zain Jordan
provides services to some 3.7 million customers, giving it market leadership in
a country whose population is estimated at 10.5 million.
