AMMAN —
Deputy Khaled Al-Shloul decided to change his question to the government about
the prices of oil derivatives and the difference of fuel prices on the electric
bill to an interpellation request, according to Amman Net.

The request came
after Shloul was not satisfied with the answer of Minister of Energy and
Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh.
Kharabsheh said
that Jordan buys oil from Iraq at a discount of $16 less than the global price
per barrel, not that it purchases oil at the price of $16 a barrel.
He added that the
oil Jordan buys from Iraq carries additional costs, which are $0.075 in
inspection fees and $6.90 in refining costs due to the quality variance (of
which $3.50 is taken for transportation costs for the oil exchange that the
refinery receives from Yanbu,) in addition to $6.86 transportation costs from
Iraq to the refinery.
Kharabsheh
indicated that the price difference that remains from the $16 discount is only
$5.60, and that the real return on total annual import is calculated at about
$20 million, and the revenue goes to the Treasury.
