Marking International Women's Day, the PepsiCo Foundation has extended
its support of JRF’s Social Enterprises designed to leverage the livelihoods of
thousands of Jordanian and refugee women through trainings in vocational skills
and workforce readiness.
“Our partnership with the PepsiCo Foundation is a renewal of the
company’s belief in JRF’s community empowerment projects designed to enable
local communities become self-reliant, productive and entrepreneurial at heart,
which in turn is helping us address the socio-economic challenges related to
unemployment and labor market needs,” points JRF’s Director General Enaam
Barrishi.
Through the grant it is offering, the PepsiCo Foundation will provide
the necessary tools and equipment to expand and develop JRF’s social
enterprises: Karma Kitchen and Jordan River Designs, both of which were
launched to help empower women through culinary arts and handicrafts. This will
also help JRF create more than 60 new job opportunities for local community
women, enabling them to provide for their families and increasing women participation
in the labor market.
“PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation are proud of the partnership with
the Jordan River Foundation, supporting women across the Kingdom”, said Wael
Ismail, Corporate Affairs Vice President for Africa, Middle East and South Asia.
“Guided by our PepsiCo Positive strategy, we are committed to inspire positive
change for communities we work in, and we believe that empowering women and
strengthening their role as leaders within the workforce is one way we can help
pave the way for a brighter future”.
