AMMAN — In 2022, the value of goods that entered Jordan and
were then re-exported to various markets amounted to
$460 million, Director-General
of the Jordanian-Syrian Free Zone Company Irfan Khasawneh said Tuesday.

According to Al-Mamlaka TV, the volume bought to the Kingdom and then
re-exported reached 131,000 tonnes, he added.
During a meeting with investors, Khasawneh said that the number of
transport trucks entering through the Jordanian gate reached 7,100, while the
number of small passenger cars reached 5,400.
As for the goods entering through the Syrian gate, Khasawneh said
that their value reached $20 million, with a volume of goods reaching 45,000
tonnes. The number of transport trucks reached 1100 trucks, and the number of
small passenger cars entering through the Syrian gate reached 240 vehicles, he
said.
He added that 18 new investment contracts were submitted and 205
investment contracts were reinstated.
The free zone has 21 clearance offices, of which 15 are Jordanian.
The Jordanian-Syrian Joint Free Zone was established in 1976, with
joint capital from the two countries, under an economic cooperation agreement
that regulates trade between them, to be one of the pillars of joint Arab
economic action.
