AMMAN — Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Royal
Jordanian Airlines, Samer Majali, said on Thursday that the company has signed
an agreement to acquire 8 new aircrafts to join its fleet.

He added that six of these aircrafts will be leased
operationally for a period of 12 years and will be returned at the end of the
contracted period.
Two aircrafts were purchased from Embraer aircraft
manufacturing company, and the purchase was financed by banks and foreign
companies owned by RJ.
Used for short-term hauls
He continued, "The first two aircraft will be put into
service in December 2023, and three aircraft will be received during the next
year." He explained that the new aircraft will be used for short-haul
flights to the Gulf Arab countries, Turkey, and Iraq.
Meanwhile, Azorra, the aircraft leasing company, had
previously stated in a statement that the value of the aircraft deal amounted
to $635 million.
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, Embraer, said in a
statement that six aircrafts will be delivered based on a confirmed order
submitted by Azorra, while the other two aircraft will be delivered based on an
order submitted by RJ.
The deal includes four aircrafts of the "E190-E2"
model and four aircrafts of the "E195-E2" model.
