In a post on
Facebook Sunday, Subahi said that he had earlier stated the cost of the
Social Security Corporation (SSC)’s programs that had exceeded JD800 million, part of
which were in the form of direct and indirect support, while other amounts were
refundable and non-refundable.
Subahi presented a
number of questions to the SSC Director General, which included whether or not
SSC had conducted a study on the social health insurance that was to be to be
implemented, and what has been holding back SSC from publishing the proposed
health insurance system.
Other questions
addressed the monthly pension bill, which currently stands at around JD120
million, the increase in the insurance and administrative expenses that
exceeded revenues by 75 percent, in addition to whether SSC would actually face
challenges in paying a growing pension bill over the next seven years,
especially in light of COVID-19 epidemic and the
economy’s weak capacity to
create jobs.
