AMMAN — MP Jaafar Al-Rababaa said that
some 155,000 debtors are wanted in Jordan, and that the percentage of
Jordanians in debt may exceed 75 percent of the population, Khaberni reported.

Rababaa also said that the Execution Law, which decides
the imprisonment terms of civil debtors, must discriminate between fraudsters
and debtors, and have a humanitarian component, since debtors form a majority
of the population and need money to run their businesses.
Rababaa said that women form a large percentage of
debtors, reiterating that “fraud” should not be used to talk about debtors, as
is the case now.
