AMMAN — The head of the
Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Bassam
Al-Sarhan said that the commission will soon start operating the fifth generation
mobile network (5G), and is currently in discussions with service providers to prepare
the related strategy for this technology.

Sarhan added
in a statement to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the commission continues
to draw out details, standards, and timing for the start and roll out of the
service, indicating that it is preferable to wait until the negotiation stage has
been completed as there are remaining unresolved technical issues.

Director of Microsoft Business Applications Maher Al-Khaiyat said that experts
in the communications and information technology sector believe that 5G technology
would accelerate the fourth industrial revolution in relation to data and
information services.
Khaiyat added
that
5G technology would lead to significant improvement in coverage and speed
of data upload and download. He also
said that artificial intelligence would provide unprecedented methods in remote
monitoring and control, and will give users unique entertainment experiences in
virtual reality in addition to other services that are powered by artificial
intelligence.
