PRESS RELEASE —
A
new media platform called "Tamooda", an old city in the Kingdom of
Morocco whose cultural value inspired a group of Arab intellectuals to name
this platform after it, in partnership with the Arab Renaissance for Democracy
and Development (ARDD), to be a platform for free expression, concerned
with understanding the renewed and upcoming Arab regional and global issues and
transformations, and to offer a modern presentation of the visions and hopes of
the Renaissance, in both Arabic and English.

The platform, chaired by Moroccan philosopher
and thinker, Dr. Ali Oumlil, includes in its advisory board: Award winning
Syrian Poet, Essayist and Translator Adunis "Ali
Ahmad Said Esber", Algerian diplomat and politician Lakhdar Brahimi,
Former Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and current UN High Representative
for the Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos, Dean of the School of
Liberal Arts at Tulane University in the United States Brian T. Edwards, member
of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco Rahma Bourguia, Director of the Center
for Strategic Studies and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARDD Dr. Zaid
Ayadat, CEO of ARDD Samar Muhareb, former Jordanian Minister and former
Secretary-General of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for
Western Asia Rima Khalaf, President of Saint George University in Beirut Tarek
Mitri, researcher and academic Ayyad Ben Ashour, Palestinian diplomat Leila
Shahid, researcher Ghassan Salameh, economic researcher Fathallah Wallou,
writer and former Moroccan minister Mohammed Ash'ari, researcher and academic
Mohammed Touzi, as well as the platform’s chief consultant, journalist,
playwright, and novelist Edriss Ksikes.
The
platform will address many political, economic, social and cultural topics that
will contribute to discussions related to the needs of Arab society, in
addition to renewing the dialogue on Arab Renaissance through Arab and
international intellectual, cultural, and political figures renowned in their
respective fields.
It
is worth noting that the "Tamooda" platform includes a team of young
Arab producers of creative intellectual media content, who have extensive
experience in several Arab and Western countries. Tamooda looks forward to
addressing audiences from different generations and cultural backgrounds, as
well as trying to bring Arab issues closer together in the Maghreb and the
Levant.
