The project will provide 300 million cubic meters of water to all governorates
of Jordan for drinking and household purposes.
Speaking on Monday during the
UN Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO)
launch of the final workshop of the project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda for
Water Efficiency/Productivity and Water Sustainability in the Near East and
North Africa”, Mahameed said that work on the project
will commence next year and is expected to be completed in 2028.
The workshop, launched with funding from the Swedish International Development
Cooperation Agency, discussed the main results of activities carried out across
the country with local partners.
It aimed to present the key outcomes of these activities, develop a plan to
institutionalize some of the modern methods presented by the project, discuss
lessons learned through the presentation of studies, develop a plan for work
sustainability, and discuss the various tasks of stakeholders.
It also aimed to enhance cooperation on the regional and global levels by
organizing several dialogue sessions and meetings, and by encouraging the
establishment of working groups for institutions with common interests.
