It said the latest
version for the second consecutive year, launched because of the success of the
earlier one, is part of Zain’s “continuous efforts to supporting and empowering
women, and to enhancing women roles in the society through launching several
initiatives and programs to promote women’s economic empowerment”.
Zain will “host
participants in an intensive program of mentoring, to reinforce female
technical and management skills, in addition to enable them to explore the job
opportunities, as well as bridging the gender gap in STEM fields,” the
statement said.
It said the move
stems out of Zain’s belief that women are “capable of being creative and become
change-makers in various fields, furthermore, this program also aligns Zain’s
commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
When registration
began in August, 400 female participants applied to the program from both
public and private universities across the kingdom.
About
100 female students were selected to participate in a five-week program,
peer-to-peer networking, and mentorship program that connects the participants
to a group of experienced mentors and mentees.
The statement said
the program also provided participants with an opportunity to “reach their full
potential, seek guidance in joining the workforce, and explore career
opportunities in technology industry, through workshops and sessions tackled
STEM skills, work-life balance, overcoming and facing the challenges,
leadership, team building, and career development”.
