The
weather is hot and the Eid Al-Adha has just begun: it’s the perfect time for a
sweet treat.
If
you happen to find yourself in Aqaba during the holiday, here are some of the
best ice cream spots where you can grab a cone or cup.

1.
MILK’n
MILK’n
offers a unique take on a classic ice cream cone: They serve rolled ice cream,
a frozen dessert that originated as popular street food in Thailand and has
sparked social media enthusiasm.

The
shop serves both classic flavors like Nutella and banana, but also more unique
flavors like Ferrero Rochero. True to rolled ice cream’s Thai origins, there
are also East Asian flavors like matcha — a powder made from green tea leaves —
and taro, a purple root vegetable similar to a potato and known for its sweet,
nutty taste. A cup of rolled ice cream will run you either 2 or JD2.50
depending on the flavor.

MILK’n also serves
coffees and hot chocolates if you’d rather get a hot drink. There are no places
to sit inside, and most of the outside seating is in the sun. On a hot day, it
might be best to take your cup on the go and try your treat as you walk.

Located near Haya
Circle, MILK’n is just a short walk from most hotels in the area and it’s
surrounded by restaurants — so it’s a great choice to cap off your meal.

Gelato Uno
Gelato
Uno offers a wide variety of ice cream flavors in the center of Aqaba.

Each
scoop is JD1.5, and you can choose from a huge tableau of different flavors
(particular standouts were mango, cookies, and Oreo). If you choose four
scoops, you can get the fifth one free. There are also a variety of toppings
(think Nutella, Lotus, and cream). The sweet treats are delicious — though
they’re a little more like traditional ice cream than authentic gelato.
Gelato
Uno also provides milkshakes, frappuccinos, and sweets. If you don’t have much
of a sweet tooth, you can also grab a coffee, soda, or fresh juice. There’s a
small seating area so you can escape from the heat for a few minutes.
The
shop is just a short walk from the Jett bus station as well as most hotels. If
you’re craving more Italian flavors, you can go next door to Pizza del Corso
for a meal.

Mayelak
Mayoleh
Mayelak
Mayoleh is an unexpected gem in Aqaba. The only sign is in Arabic — the shop’s
name roughly translates to “come for a visit.” They serve fantastic ice cream
and fresh smoothies and juices (the caramel ice cream was especially decadent).

The
shop is located just off the side of King Hussein Street, the main street in
Aqaba. It’s close to the Aqaba Museum, the Arab Revolt Flagpole, and the beach,
making it the perfect spot to cool down while sightseeing or exploring.

There
are no spots to sit, so expect to take your ice cream as you go and enjoy your
time in the city.
