AMMAN — Two main
wastewater treatment plants in the northern
governorate of
Irbid will undergo major renovation and upgrade, at a cost of
€42.5 million provided as a loan from the German Development Bank (KfW).

The project agreement was signed Sunday by Minister of Water
and Irrigation Muhammad Najjar and global water and wastewater treatment
solutions provider Metito.
The 3-year project targets the Central Irbid Wastewater
Treatment Plant (Faura) and the Wadi Al-Arab Wastewater Treatment Plant (Dogra)
and aims to cut greenhouse emissions by 6,600 metric tons annually and provide
10 million cubic meters of treated water, in addition to reducing energy costs,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
