Ensuring Long-Term Investment and Development
This joint statement follows the Jordanian government’s decision last year to extend AIG’s Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) concession agreement until 2039. The extension guarantees continued investment in the rehabilitation, expansion, and operation of QAIA. The Ministry of Transport and AIG reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and operational efficiency at the airport.

Both parties emphasized their dedication to:

Enhancing passenger experience by offering premium services.
Developing airport infrastructure and real estate.
Promoting innovation and incentivizing partners.
Advancing sustainability initiatives, including reducing carbon emissions and adopting renewable energy solutions.
Minister of Transport: A Key Step in Strengthening QAIA’s Global Position
Minister Wissam Al-Tahtamouni stated that extending the concession agreement is a significant step in further developing QAIA and enhancing its role as a regional and global aviation hub. This move aligns with the government’s strategy to support the aviation sector and boost the airport’s international competitiveness.

She emphasized the importance of:

Continuously improving passenger services.
Upgrading infrastructure.
Integrating advanced technologies to create a seamless and efficient travel experience.
The minister also highlighted several ongoing and upcoming projects, including:

Expanding QAIA’s capacity to 18 million passengers annually.
Installing 9 new electronic security gates (5 in arrivals and 4 in departures).
Enhancing water supply systems.
Developing advanced security checkpoints at airport entrances and exits.
Implementing a solar energy project.
Conducting feasibility studies for the rehabilitation of the southern runway.
She stressed that these projects aim to improve operational efficiency and passenger services while focusing on sustainability and technological advancements.

AIG Chairman: Strengthening a Successful Partnership
AIG Chairman Fernando Echegaray reaffirmed the strategic partnership with the Jordanian government and the Ministry of Transport, which has played a pivotal role in transforming QAIA into an award-winning world-class airport.

He stated:
"The extension of the concession agreement until 2039 reflects the strong confidence placed in us by both the government and our stakeholders. It reinforces their belief in AIG’s ability to elevate the airport’s status in the global aviation industry. Despite challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, we have emerged stronger and more committed to ensuring the airport’s ongoing success. QAIA will continue to thrive as a model of excellence and a key contributor to Jordan’s economy."

CEO: A Commitment to Innovation, Expansion, and Sustainability
AIG CEO Nicolas Deviller emphasized that extending the concession agreement is not just a contractual milestone but also a testament to the solid partnership between AIG and the Jordanian government.

He highlighted that the extension will:

Enhance QAIA’s capacity and global connectivity.
Integrate smart technologies to improve operations.
Strengthen sustainability efforts to ensure QAIA remains Jordan’s primary gateway to the world.
"We are committed to ensuring that every traveler at QAIA feels at home. This extension will help drive the growth of Jordan’s aviation and tourism sectors, create jobs, and contribute to the country’s economic development," Deviller concluded.
