AMMAN— On Tuesday,
Al-Balqa Applied University organized a lecture entitled “Pink October” to raise awareness on breast cancer, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The director of the Development and Community Service Unit, Khaled Al-Atiyat, said that the lecture was held in collaboration with the Jordan Breast Cancer Program and aimed to educate and guide students on breast cancer-related topics.
The lecture shared statistics on the prevalence of breast cancer around the world and how it impacts women and men and emphasized the importance of periodic early screenings to detect the disease in its infancy, which would help treat it.
Gynecologist and Obstetrician Dr Nedal Al-Azeb said that women aged 45–65 were more likely to develop breast cancer, noting that early detection helped immensely in recovering from the disease.
The lecture featured a presentation on Anaam Atoum’s experience with breast cancer. She spoke of the hardships she faced throughout the course of the disease, calling on everyone not to underestimate and constantly conduct breast cancer screenings.
The lecture also covered a medical angle shared by SebaMed Medical and MegaLab Medical Laboratories.
