AMMAN— The 19th Zarqa Arab Theater Festival
kicked off on Sunday at the King Abdullah II Cultural Center, the Jordan News
Agency, Petra, reported.
The festival, coinciding with the celebration of
Jordan’s centenary, was organized by the Zarqa Troupe for Dramatic Arts. The
troupe was founded 29 years ago by a group of Jordanian theater artists and
musicians.
Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture,
the festival’s opening included a short film celebrating Jordan’s centenary, a
presentation on the plays that will be presented this year, the honoring of
artist Juliet Awad and artistic and musical performances presented by the Radio
and Television Troupe.
The festival also includes many plays, critical
seminars, and an acting workshop, according to Petra.
