AMMAN — Ayla Oasis
Development Company recently announced it had finalized
preparations for the
Jordan Open Golf Championship, which will be held at Ayla Golf Club on October
21, and will run until October 23.

The championship comes as a part
of ongoing collaboration with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA),
according to a statement from the company. The closing ceremony is expected to
take place on October 23, 2021, under the patronage of Nayef Bakheet, ASEZA’s
chief commissioner.
Specialized technical staff have
put the final touches on the courses before the tournament gets underway.
The tournament is expected to
draw 81 players, including 35 international golfers, and is divided into
several categories, including men, women, and youth under the age of 18.
Participating in the tournament
are official delegations from Lebanon, Qatar, Palestine, Tunisia, Iraq,
Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Morocco, Egypt, Kuwait, and other countries.
"We are launching our first
major activity for the current year through Jordan’s Open Golf Championship,
which will be followed by a wide agenda of local events that contribute to the
development of golf at the local level and spreading it to a different array of
groups,” said Hani Al-Abdallat, president of the Jordan Golf Federation.
Ayla’s managing director, Sahl Dudin, said
that Ayla is set to announce a series of sports, entertainment, and tourism
activities and events for the coming period aimed at reviving sports and
tourism in Aqaba over the next year.
Ayla offers an 18-hole golf
course designed by international designer Greg Norman, and a specialized
academy that provides training and education.
Ayla has previously hosted major
sporting events such as the Jordan Mixed Open Golf Tournament, as well as the
Arab Golf Tournament and the MENA Tours Journey to Jordan.
