The geographic location of the Northern Jordan Valley district, west of Irbid Governorate, along with its various tourist attractions, makes it an appealing destination for both winter and spring tourism. The area connects several tourist spots, allowing visitors to travel from the northern region towards Umm Qais and the Jordan River Hot Springs, and southwards towards the Dead Sea, the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, and the Al-Karama area.
During the winter and spring seasons, vehicles carrying tourists seeking warmth and green nature flock to the Northern Jordan Valley, where they spread out on the green grass under the shade of trees along agricultural roads and near water reservoirs.
The region boasts many important tourist and archaeological sites that visitors are eager to explore, including the shrines of notable companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) such as Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Amer ibn Abi Waqqas, and Sharhabil ibn Hasana. Other key attractions include the northern shore mineral hot springs resort, Wadi Al-Arab Dam, the Jordan Environmental Park in Zlqab Dam, the Mishari Park, the archaeological site of Tabqat Fahl, and the returned Baqoura land.
Investors in the tourism sector, particularly in the northern shore rest areas and the Tabqat Fahl area, expect a rise in seasonal tourist traffic during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, following a lull during Ramadan, in addition to weekend holidays during this month until mid-May. Tourist activity generally decreases with the rise in temperatures in the valley region.
Domestic tourism also contributes to the local economy, especially in the main markets of the northern shore and Mishari towns, where agricultural products are sold at popular tourist sites.
Ali Al-Talawi, a member of the Irbid Governorate Council representing the Northern Shouna, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the Northern Jordan Valley's seasonal climate, agricultural features, and its wealth of tourism and archaeological attractions have made it a prime destination for visitors, especially from the northern governorates. He emphasized the importance of capitalizing on these natural and cultural resources to improve the region's economy and create job opportunities.
In turn, Ma'adh ibn Jabal Mayor Sari Al-Abadi said that the local municipalities have worked to prepare the parks, tourist sites, and roads, maintaining their cleanliness and beauty to welcome visitors. He called for tourists' cooperation in preserving public cleanliness and reducing litter.
Khatib Al-Ghazawi, the head of the Tabqat Fahl Municipality, emphasized the importance of supporting all related sectors, particularly municipalities, to improve services and promote further investment in tourism projects that suit the area's unique nature. He pointed out that the region's diverse tourism offerings—ranging from religious and therapeutic tourism to recreational, historical, and environmental tourism—require increased promotional efforts.
